A delicious smoked cream cheese topped with a sweet and spicy bacon jam made with jalapeno slices, perfect for any gathering. It's easy to prepare and offers a delightful combination of flavors, making it an ideal appetizer.
Score the top of the cream cheese with a knife to help expose it to more smoke.
Generously season the cream cheese with your favorite BBQ rub.
Smoke the cream cheese at 225-250F for 1-1.5 hours.
In a skillet over medium heat, add the chopped bacon and cook down, then set aside.
Add the sliced onion to the skillet and cook it down using some of the leftover bacon fat.
Pull the skillet off the heat and add the cooked bacon back in, then stir in 1/2 cup of brown sugar, half the jalapeno juice, and 1/3 cup of the jalapenos from the jar, along with 1/2 cup maple syrup.
Place the skillet back over the heat and simmer, stirring often until it reduces and reaches a jammy consistency.
Top the smoked cream cheese with the bacon jam and enjoy it with crackers, chips, or whatever you like.
